The painting depicting St. Nicholas was created around 1869 by Wojciech Eljasz, a Cracovian painter. Saint Nicholas was the bishop of Myra and lived at the turn of the 3rd and 4th century. The garment, in which he is depicted, as well as the pastoral staff and the book reflect his ministerial mission when he was the bishop of Myra in Lycia.
