Abstract

In connection with the foundation of the Confraternity of the Rosary at the parish in Biskupice in 1872, the painting of Our Lady of the Rosary with St. Dominic and St. Catherine of Siena was ordered to the painter Wojciech Eljasz of Cracow, most likely around that year. The painting in question refers to the traditional iconography of Our Lady of the Rosary with Dominican saints. This representation was to combine the most important representatives of the male and female Dominican order in one image and show them together with the founder of the order and his most revered woman saint.
