The painting showing the Annunciation may have been created in the fourth quarter of the 18th century or in the first quarter of the 19th century, probably for a Marian altar in the chapel of the church in Biskupice. The Annunciation was a moment when the Incarnation was complete. Thus, it is not only an episode of Mary's life, but one of the most important moments when the God's saving plan was commenced. In visual arts, the illustration of the Annunciation was based on the description of St. Luke the Evangelist (Luke, 1, 26-38).
