The statues of angels were most probably created at the same time as the high altar, in the years 1742-1747. They might have been made in the workshop of Antoni Gegenbaur – the likely author of the altar and its remaining sculptural decoration. In non-architectural altars in the four-poster type with drape curtains, there were usually putti and angels as a figural decoration, often holding the fabric or, as in Grab, adoring the image in the altar.
