Abstract
The painting "St. Michael the Archangel" is located in the altar finial of the high altar in the church of Reformed Fathers in Wieliczka. The work was probably created together with the whole reredos after the fire of the church which took place in 1718. The altar was funded by the Grabowscy and Luxarowicz family from Wieliczka. It was consecrated along with other reredoses by the Bishop of Kiev, Adam Tarło, on August 28, 1721. The author of the painting is unknown, but, without any doubt, he took advantage of the graphic interpretations of "St. Michael Vanquishing Satan" by Rafael Santi of 1518.
