The sculpture presents a piece of high artistic class, created after the church fire which took place in 1718. The piece was funded by the Luxarowicz family from Wieliczka. It is likely that the design for the altar was conceived by the very same person that built it, i.e. Modest Gronalewicz. The crucifix is placed in the main area of the reformation church altar and strictly reflects the monastic tradition which states that the image of Christ Crucified must be always the centrepiece of each altar.
