A painting depicting St. Bartholomew was created in 1762. It was later placed in the high altar. St. Bartholomew was one of the apostles called by Jesus. He preached the gospel in Armenia where he was captured by order of the king, who had him skinned, and then Bartholomew was to be crucified and beheaded with a sword. The tools of torture constitute his attributes. He is usually depicted with skin in his hands.
