Abstract
Painting depicting the Adoration of the Shepherds was probably painted in the fourth quarter of the 19th century or in the first quarter of the 20th century. It was re-mounted in the finial of the side altar. Events constituting the theme of the performance are described exclusively in the Gospel of St. Luke (Lk 2:8-20). The introduction of the figures of the shepherds and the three wise men into the scenes of the nativity play was intended to make the performance more laical and comprehensible to the worshippers.
