The painting depicting Virgin and Child with Saint Anne was created in 1897 by Ferdinand Olesiński, a painter. In the same year, the work was placed in the main area of the then renovated side altar of St. Anne, in place of an older composition with the same theme. Olesiński, who was born in Wieliczka, was a painter that got his education in the School of Fine Arts in Cracow. The work of Olesiński included, above all, realistic portraits, landscapes, genre scenes and religious paintings that were created in the academic spirit.
