The work was probably created in the second half of the 17th century and is referred to as "baroque-folk". They were made by a sculptor who could not fully copy the correct proportions of the human body. In terms of iconography, this image of the Crucified combines the features of the Cristo morte type (i.e. the dead Saviour on the cross), with the type of Cristo vivo (i.e. the representation of Christ before his death on the cross).
