The statue of St. Valentine was re-placed in the altar, perhaps during one of the renovations of reredos in the 20th century, when some decorations and statues were added to it. Saint Valentine was a bishop and a martyr. In iconography, he is most often portrayed in priestly garb, or with an alb and chasuble. A small figure at his feet refers to the story of healing a person with epilepsy.
