The altar, made between 1695 and 1703 by Baltazar Fontana's workshop, belongs to the most interesting works of mature Baroque in Poland. The direct source of inspiration for this reredos was St. Emerentiana's altar in the Church of Sant'Agnese in Rome, created by Ercole Ferrata, one of Bernini's closest collaborators.
