Abstract

It is regarded by some researchers to have been painted in 1570, and by others in 1640 and to have been made in the workshop of the Master of the Martyrdom of Apostoles. It depicts the scene of the crucifixion of Christ between the thieves and the crowd of people, with the Way of the Cross presented behind and the walls of Jerusalem in the background. Its iconography refers to the work of Petrus Venetus over the period of 1546-1547, placed in the church in Bodzentyn, that formerly had been included the high altar of the cathedral of Wawel.
