Oil painting presenting the Crucified Christ was painted by Walery Eljasz-Radzikowski before 1875. The Saviour was depicted as "Christus triumphans" – his death exceeds the human dimension, is timeless and connects the Earth with Heaven. Jesus does not in an inert and lifeless way but remains in the Divine ecstasy. Being abandoned, he directs his eyes toward Heaven, towards the Father.
