The figure of dead Christ in the tomb was used in liturgical period of the Lent. According to the Gospel of Saint Matthew, the sculpture from Krzeszów depicts dead Christ with signs of tortures, aligned on the walls and covered in linen. The sculpture, along with the entire structure of the tomb was made around 1903 in the sculpture workshop of Ferdinand Stuflesser, Tyrolean sculptor who placed so constructed and sculptured tombs of Christ in mensas of the altars.
