Abstract

The altar together with the figures was most probably made in the 1770s by the Kornecki workshop to the Cistercian church in Mogiła. In 1948 it was moved to the church of the Missionaries of La Salette dedicated to St. Norbert at Wiślna Street in Cracow, and in 2006 to a new church in Tokarnia. In iconography, Saint Joachim was portrayed as a mature or old man, because, according to tradition, he managed to become a father of Mary when he was in old age. He is usually depicted in the company of his wife – St. Anne.
