Research on furnishings of the St. John the Baptist's church in Zembrzyce carried out so far, due to lack of archival records on the constructors, does not even try to determine a circle of potential authors of the reredoses and its sculptural decor. It may be assumed that the altar of Our Lady of the Scapular together with sculptures of St. Barbara and St. Catherine of Alexandria were created around 1666, when the Scapular Brotherhood was established in Zembrzyce. The aforesaid sculpture represents St. Barbara - a virgin, martyr, patroness of good death, miners, rafters and artillerymen - who belonged to the group of Fourteen Holy Helpers.
