Figure of St. Adalbert together with all the sculptural decoration of the high altar was made by Cracovian artisan Franciszek Maćkowski in 1922. St. Adalbert (956-997) is depicted in accordance with iconographic tradition - in episcopal robes together with symbols attributed to him: a book and oar. He was a bishop of Prague from 983. In 997, he set off to Poland and then to Prussia in order to convert pagans. He suffered a martyr's death, probably pierced with spears.
