Abstract

The sculpture was created in the second half of the 18th century together with the second sculpture depicting St. Peter. Both have characteristically S-shaped silhouettes, very curly hair and voluminously draped garments, bearing the characteristic features of the Rococo. St. Paul was presented holding a book in his hand which is a symbol of his participation in an Apostolic Mission. In his other hand, he is holding a sword to reference his martyr's death.
