Abstract
A painting depicting Our Lady of Candles was most probably created in the second half of the 19th century. The image in question depicts Our Lady of Candles. This theme originates from the representations of the Purification and Presentation of Jesus at the Temple. The painting presents an iconographic variant popular in the 19th century, especially in folk art, devoid of other figures, with such symbolic elements as a candle, a thurible and doves in a basket.
