Abstract

The painting was probably made before 1665, together with a new high altar of the former church in Grab, where it was originally located. It was transferred to its present place after the construction of a new church after 1742. Madonna of Grab is portrayed as the Queen of Heaven, as evidenced by such attributes as the crown on her head, the sceptre held by her or the orb in the Child's hand.
