Abstract
Sculptures of the Virgin Mary and John the Evangelist were built in the second half of the 17th century and they were placed on the Altar of the Crucifixion. Mary was presented as Our Lady of Sorrows, nevertheless in an almost unnoticeable way. Only one element of the work proves that the intention of the author was to present the Virgin Mary as Our Lady of Sorrows - the way how the hands are positioned, the so called „affectus doloris” gesture.
