Abstract

A painting of St. Nicholas was produced in the second half of the 17th century. Presumably it was painted by Kazimierz Mołodziński. In the painting in question, motifs of eastern and western method of depicting St. Nicholas are mixed. A reference to a legend of Nice in the image of the Christ and Mary in the upper part of the painting (the element of the eastern of iconography of St. Nicholas - these are three balls on a book, three children in a wooden tub and figure of a young man - related to legends of the saint's life.
