Crucifixion Group

Abstract

Statues of the Crucifixion Group on a rood beam were created in the 18th century and were made by the same sculptor. The depiction of the Crucifixion with Mary and St. John was taken from the Gospel of St. John (Jn 19: 26-27). The sculptural group of the rood beam presents the moment of bewailing the Christ deceased by Mary and St. John standing under the cross.
