A relief depicting the Agony in the Garden of Gethsemane was created around 1500. It is supposed that it comprised a triptych as a field or as the middle area. It was placed in the baroque altar in the cemetery chapel in Stryszów (1822) until 1984. The relief in Stryszów refers to the iconographic and formal convention "Prayer in Gethsemane" created by WIt Stwosz. The subject of the Agony in the Garden of Gethsemane is one of the stages of the Passion of the Christ. It was described in three Gospels (Matthew 26:36-46; Mk 14:32-42; Lk 22:39-45).
