Abstract

18th-century sculpture of Saint Joachim, father of the Mother of God, is an example of the expressive late Baroque art. The statues during this period were shown as strongly twisted, performing theatrical gestures. Their garments were loose with distinct folds. The authorship or origin of the statue is not known, but it is certainly one of the most valuable monuments of the church in Harbutowice.
