Side altar

Abstract

A neo-baroque altar built by an unidentified artist around 1882. The structure is based on designs developed in modern art. The reredos is placed on a high pedestal, with a main area flanked with supports, with a painting on the first tier and a radial aureole in the altar finial. Free-standing statues of angels were also created in the 19th century, however, they may come from another reredos. The stylised ornamentation of the Giebułowo altar also refers to baroque forms by imitating the acanthus motifs used at that time.
