The sculpture was created in the second half of the 18th century together with the second sculpture depicting St. Paul, in the same sculpture workshop. Both have characteristically S-shaped silhouettes, very curly hair and voluminously draped garments, bearing the characteristic features of the Rococo. Saint Peter was traditionally depicted, holding his attributes: two keys symbolizing the power of Christ's representative, and an open book referencing his participation in the apostolic mission.
