The painting "Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception" was most probably created around 1693-1705. Its composition refers to Pietro Berrettini da Cortona's work from 1661 – "Immaculate Conception." Cortona's composition gained considerable popularity, which is confirmed by numerous graphic reproductions (first created by François Spierre in 1662) and the paintings modelled on them. The Immaculata is therefore portrayed in the traditional iconographic convention, in reference to the words from the St. John's Book of Revelation.
