Abstract
Lenten cloth with the representation of Our Lady of Sorrows was made in the 18th century and it is one of the types of Lenten veil (Einszeniger Typ). It constitutes a coherent set with clothes illustrating: the Flagellation of Christ and St. Mary Magdalene. The image is an illustration of a fragment of the Gospel of St. Luke, in which the old man Simeon prophesied to Mary that her soul would be pierced by the sword of sorrows.
