Abstract
The painting depicts the scene of the flagellation of Christ, which was described in the three Gospels. Unfortunately, archival sources do not reveal the author of the work. However, one can establish an approximate time of its creation - around 1630-1651, i.e. in the time of creation of the entire altar. The figure of Christ in the Korzkiew painting was composed on a black background to emphasise the mysticism of the work and pay special attention to the martyred Saviour.
