Abstract
The painting shows the Baptism of Jesus, a scene illustrating a fragment of the Gospel of Saint Matthew. Unfortunately, archival sources do not reveal the author of the work, which was probably created between 1630 and 1651. Iconography of the painting directly refers to the first invocation of the temple and presents one of the most important scenes in the life of Saint John the Baptist.
