The statues of angels flanking the tabernacle of the high altar and the statues of angels in the altar finial were created at the same time as the entire structure of the altar - in the second half of the 18th century. The statues show angels adoring and praising God. The author of these sculptures is unfortunately unknown. The angel were depicted according to iconographic tradition: they are barefoot and they are dressed in belted tunics to symbolize their readiness to mission - Messengers of God. Other statues comprising the altar sculptural set were replaced with new ones in later epochs.
