Saint Martin is the second patron of the temple in Krempachy. It is worth mentioning that the temple was initially dedicated to St. Servatius. St. Martin was born circa 316, and he died in 397 or 401. He came from Hungary and was a soldier in the legions of Constantine in Gaul. He left the army in 356 and became St. Hilary's disciple. He was appointed Bishop of Tours in 370. According to the legend, St. Martin shared his cloak with a poor man, which is why he is often depicted in iconography as a soldier on a horse, cutting off the bottom of his cloak with a sword to give it to the man; he is also depicted wielding attributes identifying him as both a soldier and a bishop.
