The statue of St. John the Evangelist was created in the 17th century. It is part of the Crucifixion Group from the chancel arch. The theme of the Crucifixion with Mary and St. John was taken from the scene that took place during the martyrdom of Christ on the cross, which was described in the Gospel of St. John (Jn 19: 26-27).
