Probably, the painting was created at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries and it was inserted into the altar in a new church in Zembrzyce. The altar was built by Franciszek Maćkowski in 1922. The painting shows Saint John the Baptist – a hermit, prophet, son of Zechariah and Elisabeth. Saint preached about the need for repentance and prepared the way for the coming of the Messiah. Both a cross with the inscription "ECCE AGNUS DEI" and a lamb are his attributes - referring to a scene described in the Gospel of Saint John.
