The painting, together with the whole reredos, was created around 1700. Unfortunately, archival sources do not reveal the author of the work. Saint Helena was born in the middle of the 3rd century, she died around 328-330. She was the mother of Emperor Constantine the Great. According to tradition, in the 4th century, during excavations commissioned by Saint Helena, the cross and instruments of the Passion of Christ were found. That is why the cross has become an inseparable attribute in the iconography of the saint. In addition, in the painting in Korzkiew she is wearing a coat and a crown emphasising her belonging to the imperial family.
