The painting, together with the whole reredos, was created around 1700. Saint Barbara was depicted in the classic iconographic convention with traditional attributes in her hands - a chalice with the host, received in prison from an angel before her execution and a branch of the palm in her hand - a symbol of her martyrdom. Unfortunately, archival sources do not reveal the author of the work.
