The Sculptor of Saint Adalbert was made by an anonymous artist in the first half of 17th century, after 1615, and then it was placed on the high altar in the church of Saint Catherine in Krzeszów that was built in 1613-1615 under the foundation of Piotr Komorowski. The sculpture was moved from the old church to the new one, built in the period of 1901-1903. It depicts Saint Adalbert that lived from 956 to 997. He was a bishop of Prague from 983. In 997, he set off to Poland and then to Prussia in order to convert pagans. He suffered a martyr's death, probably pierced with spears. The body of the saint was bought out and buried in Gniezno by the prince Bolesław Chrobry.
