The exact date of creation of this painting and its author remain unknown. Perhaps it comes from the former, wooden church, which existed in Bachowice until the end of the 18th century. In terms of style, the work corresponds to the works of painters from the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The painting depicts an iconographic theme called Pietà ( Pietà - mercy, Latin pietas - kindness in accordance with the vocation, leading to the fulfillment of an obligation) i.e. Virgin Mary holding the dead body of Christ on to her knees. The reduced proportions of the body of Christ may indicate that the work represents an iconographic type called Pietà corpusculum.
