Abstract

The painting of the Mother of God in the parish church in Harbutowice placed in the high altar is surrounded by a cult and decorated with crowns. Iconographically, it imitates the miraculous image of Our Lady of the Snows, called Salus Populi Romani from the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome. This image is strongly associated with the rosary service, and in the Polish Commonwealth was represented by numerous copies, some brought directly from Rome. Unfortunately, the origin and authorship of the painting from Harbutowice are unknown.
