Abstract

The painting of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception was probably created in the last quarter of the 17th century with regard to
the fact of funding the Our Lady of Consolation Brotherhood by Aleksander nad Katarzyna Miczkowscy in 1668 (confirmed by a decree of 14 April 1687). The image of Mary Immaculate was based on medieval representations of the Woman of the Apocalypse. The image of Madonna and the Child refers to Divine Motherhood of Mary which was a fruit of freedom from the original sin. The way of showing Virgin Mary in the painting in Stryszów corresponds to other images of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Immaculate Conception from the 17th century.
