Abstract

The painting of Madonna of Częstochowa represents a high-class artistic work, created in the workshop of an unknown painter, probably from Lesser Poland, in 1623. The iconographic theme of Madonna of Częstochowa is often seen in paintings from the 17th century. Similar representations from this period can be found in the church in Okulice, Wysocice, Jasta and Skrzyszów - all, like the painting in Giebułtów, come from the first half of the 17th century (painting from Okulice dates back before 1596).
