The solid sculpture of Christ in the iconographic type of Ecce Homo reflects a modern approach to this theme with composition reduced to the image of Jesus. The statue of the Saviour placed on the floor of the church, depicted after flagellation, in a crown of thorns, with his hands tied and covered only with a robe, is to emphasise his loneliness and suffering, as well as cause compassion and arouse piety. The sculpture is an example of a serial production that took place in Munich at the end of the 19th century.
