Abstract
The painting is a work of undetermined authorship. It was probably created in 1636. Although the inscription on the painting may have been added at a later time, it seems likely that the work in question was made in the second half of the 1830s. The work depicts the scene of Adoration of the Shepherds who came to Bethlehem to pay homage to the newborn Christ. These events are described only in the Gospel of Saint Luke (Lk 2: 8-20).
