In 1883, the painting "St. Paul's Sermon in Athens" by Ferdynand Olesiński was placed in a decorative frame, on the ceiling of the nave. The work was modelled on a cardboard painted by Raphael Sanzio in 1515 at the request of Pope Leo X, which was used to create tapestry for the Sistine Chapel. The painting depicts the scene described in the Acts of the Apostles, when, as part of the apostolic activity, St. Paul is giving a speech at the Areopagus, during his stay in Athens (Acts 17: 16-34).
