Abstract

The statue of Saint John the Baptist was created in the 18th century and originally belonged to the former furnishings of the wooden church of the Holy Trinity in Jordanów. After a new church was built in 1903, the statue was transferred to the altar in the cemetery chapel. Saint John the Baptist was a son of Zechariah and Elisabeth, a relative of Mary. He taught about the coming of the Saviour and gave the Baptism of Repentance. When Christ came to him, he recognized the Lamb of God in him and baptized him in the Jordan River.
