Abstract

Both statues of bishops – St. Stanislaus and St. Adalbert – were created before 1765. Most likely they were originally located in the side altar of St. Stanislaus. They were re-placed in the high altar during the renovation of the temple in 1841-1843. Saint Adalbert was depicted in episcopal garb, because he received episcopal consecration (983), and later he became the Bishop of Prague. Adalbert went to Prussia on a mission to convert pagans, where he died a martyr's death.
