The sculpture was created in the first half of the 18th century in an unknown sculpture workshop. It depicts Pietà – one of the most common iconographic themes, found in churches since the Middle Ages. Originally, the sculpture was located in the chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows and constituted an integral iconographic complex with the sculptural decoration of the altar, on which it was placed.
