Abstract

The painting of St. John of Nepomuk was created in the second half of the 18th century, and it is possible that it was formerly located in the main area of one of the altars. Presumably it was painted by Kazimierz Mołodziński. Saint John of Nepomuk was a canon of the Collegiate Church of St. Giles in Prague, therefore, he is portrayed in attire corresponding to this position. In the discussed painting, the saint holds in his hand a tongue and keys, which symbolise the seal of confession, the keeping of which became the reason for his martyr's death.
